The Central Office was established in Montgomery in 1965 to
support all Mental Health efforts throughout the state.
During the fiscal year of 2007: over 230,000 consumers were served

Bryce Hospital
Bryce Hospital was established in 1861 in Tuscaloosa and is the oldest publicly operated mental illness facility in Alabama.
During the fiscal year of 2007: 1,029 consumers were served with 613 admissions and 648 discharges

Greil Memorial Psychiatric Hospital
Located in Montgomery, Greil Hospital provides short-term acute care for consumers in the central part of the state.
During the fiscal year of 2007: 526 consumers were served with 451 admissions and 448 discharges

Mary Starke Harper Geriatric Psychiatry Center
The Mary Starke Harper Geriatric Psychiatry Center, is located on the campus of Bryce Hospital in Tuscaloosa.
During the fiscal year of 2007: 388 elderly consumers were served with 266 admissions and 278 discharges

North Alabama Regional Hospital
Located in Decatur, North Alabama Regional Hospital (NARH) provides acute care services in the northern part of the state.
During the fiscal year of 2007: 719 consumers were served with 636 admissions and 637 discharges

Searcy Hospital
Searcy Hospital was established in 1902 in the town of Mt. Vernon in northern Mobile County with a combination of acute care and extended care beds.
During the fiscal year of 2007: 1,104 consumers were served with 722 admissions and 727 discharges

Taylor Hardin Secure Medical Facility
Taylor Hardin Secure Medical Facility is a maximum-security forensic facility in Tuscaloosa. It provides evaluation and treatment services pursuant to orders issued in criminal cases by circuit courts from all 67 counties.
During the fiscal year of 2007: 216 consumers were served with 99 admissions and 101 discharges

W. D. Partlow Developmental Center
W. D. Partlow Developmental Center, the first residential facility in the state with services for individuals with intellectual disabilities, was opened in 1923 in Tuscaloosa. The center is the only state-operated residential center.
