The Office of Planning & Resource Development coordinates the department’s strategic planning process and directs other initiatives on behalf of the department to include the review of Central Office policies. It partners with organizations and stakeholders to leverage resources through the pursuit of grants, and the office develops and distributes public education and anti-stigma resources and information.

Strategic Planning Process and Other Initiatives

To ensure ongoing safety and to meet standards of care for specific stakeholder groups, the following plans have been developed.

Project Rebound
The department initiated Project Rebound to provide relief and assistance in the aftermath of disasters in partnership with community organizations.

SSI/SSDI Outreach, Access, and Recovery
The SOAR program improves access to disability benefits to those who are homeless.

Leverage Resources through the Pursuit of Grants

PRD assists in the location and development of grant proposals that focus on departmental priority areas including programs for community based treatment. The office is responsible for overseeing grant program planning and implementation that includes budget and resource allocation, evaluation, and implementation of reporting requirements.

Public Education and Anti-stigma Resources and Information

The latest news on the department and mental health issues around the state can be found on our Press & Media Center pages. Our Press page contains the last year’s worth of press releases to the media on behalf of the department as well as news articles written by others that are department related. The Media Center page features publications, videos and other resource materials that the PRD has developed.

Available Resources
ADMH has a host of educational resources (DVDs, brochures, PSAs, etc.) available for mental health system partners, community groups, students and the general public. Please contact us at 334-242-3417 for more information and to request materials.

Speaker's Bureau
PRD maintains the department's Speaker's Bureau. Volunteer professionals and advocates are available to visit your club, organization, school, church group, etc., to speak about a full range of topics related to mental illnesses, developmental disabilities or substance use disorders. Contact us for more information or to arrange a speaker.

Ideally, it is best to contact us at least two weeks before your engagement so that we can best meet your needs.
