The Office of Legislative and Constituent Affairs is responsible for developing and/or negotiating proposed legislation so that bills of interest to the department and it's constituents are addressed under the direction and approval of the commissioner.

This office includes the legislative liaison function, serving to keep the department’s executive staff and other constituents up-do-date on legislative developments and gathers/disseminates information regarding appropriate responses to pending legislation. This office also interfaces with the governor’s constituent and legislative representatives to respond to questions and concerns related to the department that are addressed to the governor or his staff.
