My name Shanga and I’m a very bright student who attends Montgomery ARC McInnis’ Adult Training Center. Due to my intellectual disabilities, I’ve had some challenges communicating my feelings and expressing myself verbally as I cannot use words to communicate. Two years ago, my expressive feelings were very limited to only a few hand gestures. Since then, through art I have learned to express myself. I enjoy mixing water colors making abstract art and art has been my outlet and has drawn me closer to others. I have developed positive relationships with my peers at the ATC. I’ve also overcome not wanting to be in crowds. I love learning and my art work is an example of how far I’ve come. My art piece, titled “Big” is one of my best art pieces yet. I am achieving my goals, while setting a prime example that the sky is the limit.
