My diagnosis is schizoaffective disorder. I have been in and out of hospitals for about 15 years and was in Bryce Hospital for six years. I have been out of Bryce for six years and have lived in a group home in the community. I had a lot of relapses and made a lot of bad decisions in the past, but I am now on medication that helps and in a day treatment program that offers support. I am six hours away from my home, and all of my family, and will probably have to stay here for the rest of my life. It has been hard being so far away from my family, especially my mother, but the people here have become like my family. When I do art, I like to draw pictures of my home, near Gulf Shores, as it helps make me happy since I'm so far away. I pray I will get to move back one day.
