83 – Butterfly

My diagnosis is schizophrenia and PTSD. I was homeless for almost two years, lost my benefits, lost my check and insurance and couldn't get my medicine. I was in and out of the hospital. I moved into a group home, and last month I moved into a semi-independent living space. I did this with the help of the mental health center and residential staff. I take my medicine, do my chores, and go to day treatment. My artwork is very marvelous. It is a butterfly. I used to help my brother put together model cars, and I would get to do the painting. I like doing art, it keeps me busy and helps me keep my mind off of being stressed.
