My name is Latrice. I recently had stomach surgery, and I’m recovering well. I’ve become more independent and am now doing things for myself that I couldn’t do before.
I’m especially proud of my daughter—she’s 17 and a junior at Opelika High School. Managing my mental health through medication and support from ADS has helped me become more stable and focused. Art gives me a sense of purpose. I can express myself, reflect on how far I’ve come, and feel joy through the creative process.
I first started doing art in school, and I continue to learn by watching art shows on TV and attending workshops at ADS. Art relaxes me and makes me smile. It gives me a strong sense of independence, and I’m excited to keep growing—one of my new goals is to learn how to do portraits.
I am focused, I am strong, and I am moving forward.
