The Mental Health Matters license plate is available now!

Individuals who preordered the plate have been emailed and mailed a redemption voucher in order to pick up their plate. Individuals may get the plate now or retain the voucher until their designated renewal month to redeem (must be before April 1, 2027).

For individuals who purchased their tag through the pre-order process, the tag will be available at their local probate office. They may appear with their voucher and receive the tag.

If personalization is desired, and had been noted at the pre-order time, the individual will get a temporary tag while they await their personalized tag to come in.

If you have recently renewed your tag and you go to get your mental health matters license tag with your voucher, there is no charge for the mental health matters license plate tag but at the next renewal time (your designated month) you will be offered to renew the tag at that time.

At most probate offices, there is a QR code that shows all general distinctive tag types so individuals not familiar with the design of the license plate can view in order to choose it as a tag.

WHY SHOULD I PURCHASE A MENTAL HEALTH MATTERS LICENSE PLATE?

The Alabama Department of Mental Health (ADMH) is proud to announce the release of a new distinctive license plate designed to steer the conversation about mental health, bring together friends and family, and support all Alabamians through prevention, treatment, and recovery. Featuring a tri-colored heart, the plate carries the message of “Mental Health Matters,” serving as a visual reminder of the importance of mental health in every aspect of our lives.

Every one of us knows someone who may need mental health, substance use, or disability services. But many of us don't know who to call or where to go.

Alabama's Mental Health Matters license plate will raise awareness and spark important conversations. With care, compassion, and increased information, individuals and their loved ones can be more aware of vital services and support.

Residents can request the Mental Health Matters license plate while renewing an auto plate at their county Probate Office. The plate also can also be personalized.
