I was the captain of my high school football team and was planning to play in college. After graduation, everything changed. My friends all went their own ways, and I felt really alone. I started having symptoms and was diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder when I was 20. 

Thankfully, I’ve always had a supportive family. I got right with God, moved into a semi-independent group home, and I’ve been staying out of the hospital. 

Art, to me, is like ancient philosophy. I enjoy learning about art history—especially from the 1500s. I may not be an exceptional artist, but this drawing is an expression of something I relate to deeply.
