My name is Jercolbie, and I was born with a hole in my heart. Doctors didn’t think I would live long, but I am now 36 and have a big heart! I live with Cerebral Palsy, which affects my ability to walk and use my arms and hands. Sometimes driving my chair is difficult, but I keep pushing forward and strive to do my best in everything I do.

I’ve faced many challenges in my life, including learning to write and improving my arm strength. With assistance, I’ve made progress and am now able to communicate more clearly. Through physical therapy, I’ve learned to reach and grasp with my hands, allowing me to do the things I love—like painting.

At first, I thought becoming an artist would be hard, but it became easier with the help of my occupational therapist, Kimberly, and a talented artist named Bunnie. They helped me extend my paintbrush so I could better reach the canvas. Painting has become my favorite form of art—it’s calming, peaceful, and relaxing. No matter how tough things get, I know I can overcome the obstacles in my life, and art helps me do just that.
