From childhood, I have struggled with mental illness. I became involved with art in the hospital wards when I was 13. It changed my life. I love doing paintings on canvas. Now, I attend the 1920 Club, where I do art therapy. I like to do art at home when I’m not at the club. Art helps keep me stable. What I like about art is that it gives me something to do that keeps my mind focused on recovery. I also enjoy going to art shows, so I can share my art with others. I never give up hope. I want to be a great artist in the present and the future.
