Mother and Child

Hi, my name is Ronald. I’m a member of the 1920 Club in the Birmingham area. I’m a self-taught artist who loves painting and drawing pictures. I also play the cello and piano, and I’ve performed with the Red Mountain Chamber Orchestra. I’m 70 years old and attend the 1920 Club every day. I’m also a member of Greater St. John Baptist Church. 

I’ve been diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia, but I’m doing well and in recovery, thanks to group therapy, music, and art classes at the 1920 Club in Birmingham, Alabama. My piece Mother and Child reflects love, connection, and healing through creativity.
