three smiley faces and the artist's mental health story

I have faced several significant obstacles throughout my life, including struggles with substance use, negative influences from unhealthy associations, and have even been robbed. I was diagnosed with schizophrenia at 19 years old, and now at age 40, I have learned how to better manage my mental health and continue moving forward in recovery. These experiences have shaped who I am today and have strengthened my determination to live a stable and meaningful life.

Through hard work and perseverance, I have made important progress toward independence. I transitioned from living in a group home to independent living, which has provided me with greater freedom and confidence in my ability to care for myself. I am a self-taught artist, and creating art allows me to express my unique perspective and sense of humor. My artwork reflects my personality and life experiences, and it brings me joy to share that part of myself with others.
