About Us


The Regional Autism Network (RAN) serves those who have questions, concerns, or resource needs regarding themselves, a family member, friend, client, patient, or student with diagnosed or suspected Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Each RAN site is staffed by experts in the field of Autism Spectrum Disorder who strive to connect people with ASD, their families, educators, and service providers to the information and/or services that best meet their needs. Services include:

  • Professional Training Programs
  • Technical assistance and consultation services
  • Individual and direct family assistance in the home, community, and school
  • Public education programs

Training Opportunities


For Mental Health Providers:
In conjunction with the Alabama Department of Mental Health, and the University of Alabama, the Regional Autism Network is hosting an Autism workshop at multiple locations across the state. The purpose of this half-day workshop is to discuss strategies for adapting traditional CBT approaches when working with older children, adolescents, and adults with autism.

  • June 30, 2023 - Bryant Conference Center, Tuscaloosa
  • July 21, 2023 - University of South Alabama, Mobile
  • August 4, 2023 - Samford University, Birmingham
  • August 18, 2023 - Troy University, Dothan
  • September 8, 2023 - Jackson Center, Huntsville

    Professional approvals will be provided:
  • Continuing Medical Education: approved 3.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits
  • Alabama Board of Nursing: approved 4.2 contact hours
  • Alabama Psychological Association: approved 3.5 contact hours
  • Alabama State Board of Social Work Examiners: approved 3.5 contact hours
  • National Board of Certified Counselors (ACEP# 7285): approved 3.5 contact hours

    The RAN partnered with the Regional In-Service Centers through the Alabama Department of Education to provide trainings for educators serving students with ASD. The Summer 2022 Series is available here:
