I am a contemporary expressionist painter from Mobile. My work is meant to be both empowering and symbolic to the viewer, with my paintings paying homage to my life experiences and emotions. My distinctive personal style and use of color permeate my works, most of which display my fondness for acrylic paints over black canvas.
My artwork has been shown in exhibitions in Mobile, including the most recent exhibit by the Mobile Arts Council “A Celebration of Black Artists” and is currently being featured on the Mobile Arts Council’s Virtual Art Gallery (mobilearts.org/virtualgallery).
I have led an interesting life saturated in the arts and have been a lead dancer, a choreographer, and an artist. Early in my life, I left Mobile to seek culture in other communities and spent more than a decade in Los Angeles, California – widely considered to be the Art Capital of the United States. I have served on a number of artistic boards, including the Anaheim Museum of Arts and the Boys and Girls Club of Anaheim sponsored by Disney.
My piece, titled Clipped, stems from my observation that living with depression can result in feeling like my creative wings and motivation have been clipped, hindering my capacity to fly.
