The Office of Provider Certification implements the Certification review process by scheduling and conducting Certification site reviews, as well as for-cause reviews, in accordance with DD Administrative Code, Operational Guidelines, administrative and support requirements for community providers of DD services.

The Office of Provider Certification is responsible for ensuring that optimally safe, efficient care is provided by community agencies.  Certification Specialists require that program standards are maintained.

ADMH has the authority to establish standards for all operations and activities of the State related to the provision of services to persons with mental illness, intellectual and/or developmental disabilities, and or substance use.

It is under the statutory authority of the Code of Alabama 1975, that ADMH requires compliance with these standards through Certification (licensure) regulations by entities that hold themselves out as providers of services to persons with mental illness, intellectual and/or developmental disabilities, and/or substance use in the State of Alabama.

Certification Specialist also communicates with and collaborates with providers as technical support and assistance is provided throughout the certification review so that the provider is engaged and receives clear expectations for compliance and quality is enhanced.
